SynthEquity aims to shift public health planning from reactive to predictive. It bridges the gap between privacy laws and the need for granular health data. The project allows policymakers to simulate high-precision interventions without violating HIPAA or privacy constraints. SynthEquity's impact goal is to eliminate "medical deserts" by allowing city planners to model the exact impact of new clinics or transit routes on community health access scores without spending any money.

Selected as one of 36 interns, Sarah Zhou collaborates in a group with 4 other high school students to build an image-recognition machine learning model to improve Multi-Disease Chest X-ray screening for clinical use.

Sarah Zhou completed the Stanford AIMI Healthcare AI Bootcamp, a program focused on machine learning in healthcare, including core concepts, principles, and evaluation metrics. She explored best practices and the application of foundation models and generative AI in healthcare settings. She also learned from industry leaders on challenges and strategies of implementing AI in this field.

As one of the few 15-year olds selected as a youth delegate, Sarah Zhou attended UN’s 10th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for SDGs. Youth delegates’s perspectives and contributions are vital for ensuring technological progress is equitable, responsive to diverse needs, and accessible to everyone.

Selected as a Youth Fellow, Sarah Zhou actively contribute youth insights and ideas to the Learning Planet Institute's initiatives. Through workshops, collaborative projects, and exchanges with diverse peers and experts, she deepens her understanding of transformative learning approaches and how collective action can address pressing global issues.

CareBridge is a youth-led initiative to bridge healthcare accessibility gaps using AI technology. Why CareBridge? At least half of the world's population lacks access to quality healthcare, and at least two billion people worldwide experience visual impairments. Sarah Zhou launched the CareBridge initiative because she believes that access to basic health care is a human right, regardless of one’s specific conditions.
